Some Days are Perfect...

Some days are just perfect. No, maybe there aren't any great movies to see, or anything of the sort, but some days are still perfect.

When you are woken up at 8:00 a.m. on a summer morning for a game of cricket, you just know you're in for one of those days...

Well, okay, so our cricket isn't really a thing to brag about, I mean c'mon! A T-shaped driveway for a pitch, where the only possible fielding positions are Point, Square-leg and long-on or long-off? Somehow, you get the feeling that scores aren't going to be that high...

Nonetheless, we play. None of us are that great, but hey, who said it isn't fun!

FACT: My team's current test victory record is unbeaten, but with the match closing for that day with the opposing team trailing by three runs for no-loss, I'm not sure whether we'll be able to maintain that record...

So then, we play with our kittens. Well, not so much play as conduct behavioral research (not the vivisection kind!). We can't really decide on names. They're brother and sister, so we had to think of paired names: Jupiter and Artemis? Narcissus and Echo? Osiris and Isis? Surprise, surprise... guess who came up with the names...

FACT: The cat (Felis catus), also known as the domestic cat or housecat to distinguish it from other felines and felids, is a small furry domesticated carnivorous mammal that is valued by humans for its companionship and for its ability to hunt vermin and household pests. Cats have been associated with humans for at least 9,500 years, and are currently the most popular pet in the world. Owing to their close association with humans, cats are now found almost everywhere in the world.

We treat them like lion cubs... Jupiter\Narcissus\Osiris made us proud by hunting and catching a gecko...

The afternoon sun beckoned me... I had to go for a swim... On the way, a visible mass of water droplets or frozen ice crystals suspended in the Earth's atmosphere above the surface of the Earth blocked out this particular sun. Plans of swimming went down the drain. We reached home, and our car battery died... Convenient.

Would you believe it, the clouds had disappeared... Nature sure works in mysterious ways. She prevented us from stopping the car at the club and not being able to start it up again, owing to that dead battery...

SOME RANDOM FACTS:
  1. The surface area of an average-sized brick is 79 cm squared.
  2. According to suicide statistics, Monday is the favored day for self-destruction.
  3. Cats sleep 16 to 18 hours per day.
  4. The three best-known western names in China: Jesus Christ, Richard Nixon, and Elvis Presley.
  5. The word "nerd" was first coined by Dr. Seuss in "If I Ran the Zoo."
  6. Every human spent about half an hour as a single cell.
  7. "Goodbye" came from "God bye" which came from "God be with you."
  8. Kansas state law requires pedestrians crossing the highways at night to wear tail lights.
You know it's a perfect day when you have the time to find all that out...
